David Lyon '96 talks financial careers
David Lyon '96 returns to the chapter house on February 12 to talk to the undergraduate members about financial services careers.
Below is a description of his remarkable career.
David Lyon began his career with Sutro & Co on the Institutional Consulting Team working on the manager selection and due diligence team. He spent the next four years doing quantitative and qualitative manager research on fixed income and equity asset managers for the institutional consulting solutions. In 2000, David joined Hambrecht & Quist to lead H&Qs Alternative Asset Manager Due Diligence team with a focus on hedge funds, private equity and venture capital.
In 2001, David led the Morgan Plus Family Office Group covering the largest family offices on the west coast. In 2008, David was asked to manage the Northern California, Hawaii and Nevada Investment practice in the Private Bank. David works directly with 35 clients and manages over $11B in outsourced CIO (OCIO) relationships for Foundations, Endowments, & Family Offices. David has appeared on CNBC and Bloomberg TV and has been quoted in the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, NY Times, and other media organizations.
David currently serves on the Advisory Board for Stanford Institute for Economic Policy & Research (SIEPR) and is a member of the University of San Francisco Investment Committee. David attended the University of Arizona, with a degree in Political Science and Economics in 1996 and earned his Chartered Financial Analyst® designation in 2002.
