Homecoming 2021 - SOLD OUT

Nov 5, 2021

Event Information

Information:

Pig Dinner and Hall of Fame

General: The University has contracted with The Club Corporation of America (CCA) to manage many of its event facilities, including the Sands Club.  Shortly thereafter CCA made a major renovation of the existing club—bottom line—the capacity was reduced for events such as ours and the cost went up for catering, set-up, and use of the club.   Nevertheless, we believe we should continue to use the facility for the Pig Dinner as an honor to Buzz Sands and its excellence as the venue for the Pig Dinner.

Date/Time:  We have reserved the Sands Club for our event on Friday, November 5, 2021, beginning at 5 PM.

Dress:  Business Casual

Parking:  Cherry Street Parking Garage across from the Sands Club.

Reservations:  Addressees are invited on a first-come, first-serve basis and must RSVP/pay by October 15th to ensure a space at the event. Once our capacity is reached with RSVP’s/payments, we will maintain a standby list for cancellations, etc.  Because this year will honor the 2020 Hall of Fame inductees, several class reunions, and the excitement surrounding the return to a more normal football season, we expect a large turn-out.

Cash/No-Host Bar: We will have access to a No-host, Cash Bar.  Accordingly, we plan to start at 5 PM for registration/socializing and will begin serving Dinner at 6 PM.

HOF: Due to the cancellation of last year’s Pig Dinner, we will be honoring the 2020 Hall of Fame recipients.

Owl Awards: As is normal, Gold Owl (50 years of initiated service) and Silver Owl (25 years of initiated service) Awards will be included in the ceremony for 2020 and 2021.  Eligibility years are as follows:

2020—Initiated in 1970 (Gold); Initiated in 1995 (Silver)
2021—Initiated in 1971 (Gold); Initiated in 1996 (Silver)

If you plan to attend this year’s Pig Dinner and want to receive your Certificate and Pin, please indicate such on your RSVP.  We will order your Certificate and Pin.  Please include an additional $10 for the Owl Pin.

If you cannot attend the Pig Dinner and want your Gold/Silver Owl Award Certificate, you can order it directly from the International Headquarters.  Pins can be ordered from Herff-Jones.  Both are available through their respective web sites.

Location:  Sands Club.  In the renovation, a smaller room was created to accommodate an event with under 50 people.  We expect it to be used by another Fraternity on Friday night, but the main room /bar will be entirely for Phi Gamma Delta.

Cost:  $70/person.  In the past, we rented tables/chairs, linens, etc., and set-up on our own; and catered the event through the Student Union.  Now, CCA performs all event support (at a higher cost) necessitating an increase in our cost/person.

Menu:  There will be an excellent buffet dinner like those in the past catered by CCA.

THIS EVENT HAS SOLD OUT.

Saturday Events:  There will be an Open House FROM 10:00 AM to Noon at the Rawls/Eller Lodge with a Brunch and tours.  Come and meet the undergraduates and have a look around the house—we think you will like what you see.
